Glenn Beck calls his own show ‘worst television ever done’

In a somewhat bizarre moment on Glenn Beck's program Wednesday, he seemed to agree with what his liberal critics have been saying all along: his show is just bad TV.

"This is the worst television ever done," Beck said, while studying a chalkboard drawing he'd created. "We're doing it every day, congratulations."

"Finally Glenn Beck says something I agree with completely," wrote John Amato at Crooks and Liars, who first noticed Beck's remark.

Beck made the comment about his program while glancing at a chalkboard diagram he'd devised aiming to explain where America's progressives fall on the political spectrum. The comment came in a larger segment criticizing Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas.

"This is the European railroad track, okay?" Beck said. "This is where we got off in 1791. This is the new system."

His explanation of the chalkboard diagram, which goes on for several minutes, makes little sense, and manages to invoke communism, fascism, Auschwitz and light bulbs.

Beck's broadcast has been beset by advertising woes since the controversial Fox host declared that President Barack Obama was a "racist," a remark that set off a flurry of protests. Critics said that Beck's comment was itself racist. The show ran for days in the UK without a single paid advertiser earlier this year.

Beck's 2009 comment included the remark that he believed Obama had "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture," and "I'm not saying that he doesn't like white people. I'm saying he has a problem,"

"This guy is, I believe, a racist," he added.
