Adventures on the Train

Due to a leaky hose on my truck, I took the DART train to pick up my 12 year old son from school today. There are always strange occurrences when I take the train.

First, when I got to the train platform, there was this obviously agitated fellow pacing in a circle around the entire southbound platform. He was listening to an old school "walkman" (the cassette kind) and yammering to himself constantly. He was dressed OK--well, not to my tastes, but nicely enough with his shirt tucked in--had on hiking boot/sneakers, nice enough jeans...but with a very noticeable wet stain up both insides of his legs and crotch.

When he got to me on one of his trips round the platform, he said,"Three joints. I smoke 3 joints to light me up!" To which I responded by looking away because I don't know what to say to a grown man with piss stains still wet on his pants claiming to be high to anyone who would listen. OK, sure, just please don't try to hurt me because a physical confrontation with you would be gross as hell.

On the train, I sat sort of in the midst of a group of young men who worked together and mistakenly thought they were talking about me for just a moment--but that's just my conceit: I always think people are talking about me, heh (not really).

Once downtown, I was 20 minutes early, and sat down on a bench to wait for the boy to get released from school when I noticed a building across the parking lot from the school with an entire side of it as an Air Jordan billboard ad featuring Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat completing a slam dunk and underneath it was written: "Nightmares Never Sleep." Not exactly, but similar to the image below.

This is a 10 story building that was as wide as it was tall, so this is a big image. The reason this is weird is because Wade almost single-handedly defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals 4 years ago, and this is awfully close to the arena in which the Mavericks play. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound, dang!

So, not much, I know. But the pee guy was weird, wasn't he? I should have taken a picture with my phone...
